Where To Stay

HOTELS  |  RV PARKS  |  CAMPGROUNDS

From inns to resorts to wilderness campgrounds, Glades County has many relaxed and friendly lodging options available to its visitors.

The historic Rice Motel, located just south of the city marina in Moore Haven, offers twelve rooms and serves a clientele largely of duck hunters and fishermen who return year after year to the motel, which is just south of the City’s marina. To the north of the county, the Lakeport Lodge on Lake Okeechobee’s rim canal has 24 rooms and is proximate to the Duck Pub Restaurant. In the Glades County community of Buckhead Ridge, just south of the City of Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River is the Angler’s Waterfront Motel, which also offers access to Lake Okeechobee.

For the RV enthusiast, Glades County boasts a number of RV parks, several of which also offer accommodations for the non RVer. Just northwest of Moore Haven on Highway 27 is the M RV Resort, which boasts 214 full hookup sites and has a variety of amenities, such as stocked fish ponds and a 4-hole golf course, for its visitors and year-round residents. To the south is Meadowlark Shores RV, which sits on the Caloosahatchee River and offers residents a heated pool, boat launch sites on the river, storage for trailers and extra vehicles, and a full winter activities calendar.

Farther south of Moore Haven, between the cities of Clewiston and LaBelle in Hendry County, is the Glades RV Resort & Marina. The only campground in the area which has a golf course and marina on the Caloosahatchee River, the Glades Resort also offers cozy cabin rentals, complete with kitchenette and screened in porches, from which visitors can enjoy birdwatching on this former Glades County ranch. The Ortona South Campground on the Caloosahatchee River offers full-service camping facilities and boating access to the river.

If wilderness camping is more your style, the Fisheating Creek Campground in Palmdale on the 52 mile-long pristine Fisheating Creek may be what you’re looking for. Nestled in 18,272 acres of wildlife management acreage, the Fisheating Creek resort offers RV sites and tent camping and hiking, hunting and canoe trails, and a store on site. An alternative might be the Sabal Palm RV Resort and Campground, also in Palmdale, where campers can enjoy true wilderness camping in the comfort of a full-service campground with a spacious bathhouse, laundry facilities and a horse paddock for horse campers.

If you’re looking for an RV site near fine dining and gaming establishments, the Brighton Seminole Campground and RV Park features camping for RVs and tents. Amenities include a swimming pool and a golf course, as well as a stocked private pond for fishing. The Brighton Campground is near the Seminole Casino at Brighton, which offers bingo, slot machines, and Las Vegas style games like blackjack and baccarat. The Brighton Casino is also home to the Josiah Restaurant and Lounge, one of the premier dining establishments in Glades County.
